MARVEL'S HEDONISTIC, BOHEMIAN WONDER WOMAN...SERSI THE TERRIBLE!

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer (2021, October 22) 2nd Ed. Comixeurs know that  Marvel Comics  (even in the Timely days), the self-styled  House of Ideas,  has always mixed an element of  horror  into the iconic DNA of its most beloved heroes. From the Frankenstein-inspired elements in Captain America to the more obvious flashes of horror in the original Human Torch, the amazing Spider-Man, incredible Hulk, invincible Iron Man and uncanny X-Men - even the supernatural possession of Dr. Donald Blake, by the mighty, Viking sky god, Thor - this is and always  has been  Marvel's secret sauce. This is the  Marvel brand... And even the publisher's greatest  superheroines would not escape it. One need look no further, than  Sersi the Terrible!  Half-naked in the apocalyptic green of Eden, Sersi is a cosmic sorceress and member of Marvel's  The Eternals  (now, titular stars of a proper, live-action superhero flick) - who really is ...

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2022, KANGALIERS!

From Wondabunga... Merry Christmas an d a Jolly Holiday 2022, Kangaliers! 🎄 ⭐️ 🤖 🐥 🦘

REDEMPTION SONG FOR HERCULES

Second Edition By Mel Dyer The Wonder Woman  comic is at its best - its most entertaining - with its leading lady, Diana of the Amazons, under fire and rising to a challenge! Game-changing stakes and characters, who challenge her freedom-loving, Bohemian ideals, distinguish her as more than a female Man of Steel; they uniquely define her, ..as Wonder Woman. Certainly, one of the greatest challenges to her Amazonian mettle, ever created, ..has been classical literature's superman, Hercules. I don't think Wonder Woman’s creator, Dr. William Marston or most of the writers, who followed him, have ever fully  reformed Hercules, an alternately quarrelsome, thuggy companion and outright enemy of the Amazing Amazon’s, ..since her launch in World War II. Even 1950s writer/editor Robert Kanigher, after making him one of Diana's fairy godfathers, lending his magical strength to her own, ..typically wrote him, as an unrepentant jerk. Like so many other male supporting characters, who a...

MARSTON CITY LIMITS: WHY CAN'T WONDER WOMAN GET HER OWN BIG GOTHAMETROPOLIS?!

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer In the 1950s, ..while DC Comics was inviting comic fans to emotionally invest in the warm familiarity of Gotham City, Metropolis, Central City, Coast City, Ivy City, Midway City and Gateway City ..and their association with its most popular superheroes - with a super-New York being established for Marvel's - nothing close to that was happening in the  Wonder Woman  comic. Like Aquaman or Thor, she originated from an iconic lost civilization, the Amazons' Paradise Island, and many of Wonder Woman's stories almost always unfolded there, leaving her fans, without the tone-setting, iconic city thing that the fans of so many other popular comics ..have had fifty or sixty years to get attached to. This is where Wonder Woman fans reach the Marston City limits, wherein lies, well... nothing? I think we've got to keep that in perspective. When looking at the too-long missing, regular supporting cast, ..iconic settings, stylized vehicles and weapons,...

A RASH ON MY TITANS (AND IT SMARTS)...STARRING WONDER WOMAN!

By Mel Dyer Sometimes, I don't understand the logic behind writing Wonder Woman, anymore. How this comic can continue to ignore one of its own greatest antagonists, the quasi-mystical, cybernetic mastermind, Doctor Cyber, in an age of internet, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, just ..ASTOUNDS me! At what point are the myth and magic and pretensions to classicism in the Wonder Woman comic, overkill ..or missing the mark? UPDATE: Things are changing, in the pages of Wonder Woman... HAPPILY EVER AFTERWORLDS: CONRAD, CLOONAN, MOORE AND THE SECOND GOLDEN AGE OF WONDER WOMAN (wondabunga.blogspot.com) It's the Information Age, and writer, after writer, consigns Wonder Woman to hack her way through one column of witches and krakens, after another! Has anyone on Wonder Woman 's creative team seen the Terminator films of the late 80s or the Resident Evil films, which have been so immensely popular in recent years? Can leaving zombie-creating, Boba Fett'ish, b...

Lynda Carter - Danny's All Star Joint

Do you know how long I've been pestering LYNDA CARTER to do an album of very  slinky songs?  She's so good at them, I couldn't have been the only one. There must have been a contest. Anyway, kangaliers... Danny's All Star Joint. Want to KNOW WONDER WOMAN, the way I know Wonder Woman? You've got to get ALL THE WAY down to the...   STAR-SPANGLED PANTIES! Edgar Miraculous (Mel) Dyer, without his fine, coyote-hatin' Goldiweiller, Kirby (now moved on to that big, coyote-hatin' hate group in the Sky) continues a somewhat bleaker, dogless existence in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC. He has been an active member of the Latino Culture Council of the Capitol Area (El Consejo de Cultura Latina – La Zona del Capitolio) and the Kiwanis Club of Capitol Hill.

REMEMBERING THE WONDER WOMAN TV SHOW'S SECRET WEAPON: ANDROS THE ALIEN HUNTER

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer Little girls have a lot of incentive to identify with superheroic men... Batgirl, Supergirl, Huntress, Hawkgirl, She-Hulk, ..while boys have very little encouragement, identifying with Wonder Woman. Well, it wasn't always that way. Wonder Woman with blingy, Trekxy ride-or-die, Andros of Arcturus (New Adventures Of Wonder Woman, CBS Television) The New Adventures Of Wonder Woman TV show gave us (then) boys, an Andros of Arcturus to imagine ourselves, as! He wasn't as physical or the hardcase that Jack Kirby's cosmic enforcer,  Orion, was, but had some pretty awesome zapping powers and a nifty silver, Star Treky outfit, ..and we thought it was very cool, that he was from outer space, wa-aay back in the Star Wars heyday of 1977. As I recall, the first Andros - General Andros - to join Diana's adventures was father of a second Andros. Andros 2.0 was portrayed, by a much younger and studlier Dack Rambo  - at the time, a young actor, who...

IMMORTAL WONDER WOMAN: THE LOST, UNFINISHED SERIES BIBLE DRAFT, PART ONE

What would the lost, unfinished series bible for a new Wonder Woman show look like? TITLE: IMMORTAL WONDER WOMAN (SERIES BIBLE) [COMPLETE] By Edgar Miraculous Dyer Introduction: This series, using some characters inspired by 'Wonder Woman' comics in 2020-2022 and the award-winning New 52, returns the Immortal Amazon to her original genre roots, as fantasy/paranormal adventurer, ..like TV's Higlander or Lara Croft (Tomb Raider). Think Xena: Warrior Princess and Highlander: The Series had a superhero baby, ..with the friendship between Xena and farmgirl, Gabrielle, at the center of the story - except Gabrielle is fat and black, and there's budding romance, with Col. Steve, ..on the side. Structure and Tone: Episodes will run, as three-act teleplays, introducing an existential threat to the human world ..AND a comedic or dramatic situation, between Diana, Etta and supporting characters (Steve, Mala, Siggy, etc). Most episodes are linear, but, stories can also use POV, mock...
