HAPPILY EVER AFTERWORLDS: CONRAD, CLOONAN, MOORE AND THE SECOND GOLDEN AGE OF WONDER WOMAN

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer The first TEN issues of Michael W. Conrad' s, Becky Cloonan' s and Travis Moore' s tour on the  Wonder Woman comic, called Wonder Woman: Afterworlds,  is an exceptionally written and illustrated literary work - all the more exceptional, ..being a comic book story. I suppose you could call it, " a good start", since the creative team just wrapped its opening story arc, Afterworlds, and is moving swiftly onto its next one, already much anticipated, by fans. However, I think calling it a good start  diminishes it, somehow. It is, simply put, one of the most entertaining story cycles, to be featured in the Wonder Woman comic, in recent memory. It may be said to herald a second Golden Age, in crafting the sort of wildly imaginative, far-flung, pulpy adventures, we haven't seen, since Mike Sekowsky' s work on the comic, ..in the Mod Era 1970s. Afterworlds is plain good reading. Let it stand, as that. In reading it, I recall films, l

WHO IS DC COMICS' HUNTER PRINCE? SON OF WONDER WOMAN AND "THE DARKNESS"?

Want to KNOW WONDER WOMAN, the way I know Wonder Woman? You've got to get ALL THE WAY down to the...   STAR-SPANGLED PANTIES!

WONDER WOMAN'S ISLAND OF DOOM

A magic boy, born from a meteor and with  "the strength of a hundred full grown men", falls from the heavens, into World War II, ..to battle Nazis and racketeers! Now, rising from an atomic grave, to fight at Wonder Woman's side, he battles immortal Queen Clea and the mechanical terror, Roboseidon, ..in WONDER BOY LIVES! Mel Dyer, without his fine, coyote-hatin' Goldiweiller, Kirby (now moved on to that big, coyote-hatin' hate group in the Sky) continues a somewhat bleaker, dogless existence in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC. He has been an active member of the Latino Culture Council of the Capitol Area (El Consejo de Cultura Latina – La Zona del Capitolio) and the Kiwanis Club of Capitol Hill.

WONDER WOMAN'S BLOODY AMAZONS--CAN'T LIVE WITH 'EM...

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer I think comics illustrator superstar, George Perez, left the comic and the Wonder Woman, inside it, on the right track, in 1992. Perez returned her to her original mission and independence in Man's World. His Diana promised 'visits' to Paradise Island, to her heartbroken mother, Queen Hippolyta, in Perez's last issue, which he wrote, himself. Seeing her visit the Island again, was something I could live with - even look forward to. Discarding the Amazons, as I see it, is out of the question, because I think the Island has always been a special part of the Wonder Woman comic… And should remain so. Wonder Woman can't even go for a morning dip, without three thousand Ama...no wonder she left that damn island! Prob'ly. (H. G. Peter art) It's been kept so much more special, over the years, because of Diana's visiting it, whenever she needed something to aid in her mission to protect Man's World from evil - sometimes to protect

BREAKING WONDA' NEWS: DC COMICS' ASGARD JUST GOT BIGGER..IN WONDER WOMAN!

Breaking News, Kangalier! By Mel Dyer A major supporting character, in the WONDER WOMAN comic, ..is an Asgardian! It gets hotter. Wondabunga asked current Wonder Woman scribe, Micheal W. Conrad, ..on Twitter:   Michael, is your Siegfried the ex-husband of a Valkyrie[?] Can you answer that, without messing up something Cloonrad is cooking? DC Comics' Valkyries stepped in it, with Wonder Woman, when they tried to carry off her last hot piece! (H. G. Peter art) Conrad answered: "I can answer it and the answer is yes… but it’s complicated— there have been hundreds of years for them to figure it out." So, ..t he Immortal Amazon's new travelling companion, while a comet-strike of fresh, Scandinavian air, brought cleverly and colorfully to life, by Micheal 'Midnighter' Conrad and Becky 'Action Comics' Cloonan, ..is no stranger to the Wonderverse*. As in Germanic folklore, Cloonrad's Siegfried has survived marriage to the legendary Valkyries, perenni

GET AWAY FROM HER, YOU WITCH: CRASH LAB FOR WRITING GREAT WONDER-VILLAINS

by Edgar Miraculous Dyer If we ask ourselves, "What is an Amazon?"... What do Amazons do, and why? What is their story? What do Amazons symbolize or represent to us? Besides woman,  what do we think of, when we think of the classical myth of the Amazons? Only then, can we ask ourselves… What would the Amazons hate or fear most of all, ..in an enemy? I would wager, from my four and a half decades of reading and watching Wonder Woman stories, in comic books and on television, that most of her writers and editors ..have never asked themselves, these questions. The purpose of asking them is to define what Amazons are, and what they aren't. Incidentally, we see the DC Comics' Amazons, champions of peace, love and freedom for ALL mankind, differ from the Amazons of myth, ..who were primarily freedom-fighters  and champions of justice for women, who were oppressed by the man-ruled city states of ancient Greece (Thrace, Sparta, Troy, Athens, Thebes, etc). Then, we ask ourselv
