BREAKING WONDA' NEWS: DC COMICS' ASGARD JUST GOT BIGGER..IN WONDER WOMAN!

Breaking News, Kangalier!

By Mel Dyer

A major supporting character, in the WONDER WOMAN comic, ..is an Asgardian!

It gets hotter.

Wondabunga asked current Wonder Woman scribe, Micheal W. Conrad, ..on Twitter: Michael, is your Siegfried the ex-husband of a Valkyrie[?] Can you answer that, without messing up something Cloonrad is cooking?

DC Comics' Valkyries stepped in it, with Wonder Woman, when they tried to carry off her last hot piece! (H. G. Peter art)

Conrad answered:

"I can answer it and the answer is yes… but it’s complicated— there have been hundreds of years for them to figure it out."

So, ..the Immortal Amazon's new travelling companion, while a comet-strike of fresh, Scandinavian air, brought cleverly and colorfully to life, by Micheal 'Midnighter' Conrad and Becky 'Action Comics' Cloonan, ..is no stranger to the Wonderverse*. As in Germanic folklore, Cloonrad's Siegfried has survived marriage to the legendary Valkyries, perennial enemies of Wonder Woman's people, ..the Amazons, since comics' Golden Age Forties...

And it's 'complicated'. D'jou hear that?

'Complicated' certainly means DC Comics' Asgard just got significantly bigger, ..in Wonder Woman! Will the Amazing Amazon be tangling, with more DC Comics' Asgardians, Gudra or Warmaster, before the end of the run? Who knows? What will be the collateral damage...the fallout, from these complications?

I'm only happy, when it's complicated.

And I want the bloody Siegfried action figure! I'm buying a big, James Brown wig and cosplaying him, at comicon. Look alive, Kangaliers...

And thank you, Michael W. Conrad!

*Mel Dyer coined 'Wonderverse', in discussions on the DC Comics Message Boards, way back, during the Phil Jimenez run. That was a long-ass time ago, bidghes.

BOYS ON THE SIDE: HOW ETTA AND MALA (NOT STEVE) MAKE WONDER WOMAN WORK

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer I've think I've been rallying fans for a Wonder Woman  comic, with the friendship betwixt the Amazing Amazon, Etta and Mala, at the center of the on-going narrative, for the better of two decades. The Wonder Woman/Steve Trevor thing [Styana?]  is a perennially stagnant narrative speed-bump, that no longer drives a story, in an entertaining way. Moving the character-center of the comic to Wonder Woman's (Diana's)  friendship, with cowgirl everywoman, Etta Candy, and another recurring female character in the comic, like Amazon compatriot, Mala,  ..while unfolding a deepening, fluctuating attraction between Diana and Steve Trevor, in a recurring subplot, ..is one way to fix that. Could it help, ending Steve and Diana's low-stakes, paperless marriage, while moving Mala into a permanently Alfredish role, in Man's World; so that there's an important character in the comic, who keeps Diana's mythical background, out front and in play...

WELCOME TO WONDERTOWN: THE QUIRKY X-FILES OF 1975!

"...Stam Fine remembers the iconic 70's Wonder Woman TV show starring Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner. It started off set in WWII, then moved networks and the setting was updated to the late 70s (when the show was made) with the same cast..."
