ONCE UPON A TIME...WONDER WOMAN AND ORION

By Mel Dyer I think it's a shame that Geoff Johns didn't give an Orion/Diana partnership, a chance.   Conceptually, this worked for me, better than the stale Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor sandwich that we fans have been choking on, since comic's Golden Age ... Sty-ana? In  Brian Azzarello's  hands (for fans, certainly not the most trusted hands, at the time he was writing  Wonder Woman ), Orion was Willie Garvin to Diana's Modesty Blaise, who (btw) is also a Greek princess...nothing overtly sexual, between them. We don't really know, if they're boinking. Like Diana and Orion, they're  companions  - does it matter, if they're messing around?   Let people use their bloody imaginations... If we still  have  those. Wonder Woman meets Orion, in DC Comics' New 52 experiment! (Cliff Chiang art) The friendship between the Amazing Amazon and Jack 'King' Kirby's  New Gods  hero, Orion, started with a guardrail orientation of how to tr...

Lynda Carter - Danny's All Star Joint

Do you know how long I've been pestering LYNDA CARTER to do an album of very  slinky songs?  She's so good at them, I couldn't have been the only one. There must have been a contest. Anyway, kangaliers... Danny's All Star Joint. Want to KNOW WONDER WOMAN, the way I know Wonder Woman? You've got to get ALL THE WAY down to the...   STAR-SPANGLED PANTIES! Edgar Miraculous (Mel) Dyer, without his fine, coyote-hatin' Goldiweiller, Kirby (now moved on to that big, coyote-hatin' hate group in the Sky) continues a somewhat bleaker, dogless existence in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC. He has been an active member of the Latino Culture Council of the Capitol Area (El Consejo de Cultura Latina – La Zona del Capitolio) and the Kiwanis Club of Capitol Hill.

REMEMBERING THE WONDER WOMAN TV SHOW'S SECRET WEAPON: ANDROS THE ALIEN HUNTER

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer Little girls have a lot of incentive to identify with superheroic men... Batgirl, Supergirl, Huntress, Hawkgirl, She-Hulk, ..while boys have very little encouragement, identifying with Wonder Woman. Well, it wasn't always that way. Wonder Woman with blingy, Trekxy ride-or-die, Andros of Arcturus (New Adventures Of Wonder Woman, CBS Television) The New Adventures Of Wonder Woman TV show gave us (then) boys, an Andros of Arcturus to imagine ourselves, as! He wasn't as physical or the hardcase that Jack Kirby's cosmic enforcer,  Orion, was, but had some pretty awesome zapping powers and a nifty silver, Star Treky outfit, ..and we thought it was very cool, that he was from outer space, wa-aay back in the Star Wars heyday of 1977. As I recall, the first Andros - General Andros - to join Diana's adventures was father of a second Andros. Andros 2.0 was portrayed, by a much younger and studlier Dack Rambo  - at the time, a young actor, who...

DUNESTRUCK: WONDROUS, LURID AND APPALLING MEMORIES OF DR. MARSTON'S MARS!

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer I am too long, from Mars. I want to go  back. I love George Perez, as an artist and a comic book legend, ..but, his post-Crisis, Diet Vader,  Ares,  just isn't doing it, for me, anymore, as a Number One Badguy (one of three) for Wonder Woman. I miss  Mars.  I want Mars, back. There was a time, in the Forties, when Wonder Woman's most enduring enemy, the Greek god of war, went by his Roman name,  Mars,  ..and ran his divine business out of a network of smoke-ridden, fire-belching, metal fortresses, on the surface of the fabled  Red Planet,  named for him. His cosmic agents, his  'Court'  of War -  Duke of Deception, Earl of Greed, Lord Conquest  and  General Destruction  - were little more, than armored buffoons, back then, and were never particularly awesome or terrifying, ..but, they were every bit, as ugly and weird, as the  Joker.  They existed in a fiery, steampunky world - ...

IMMORTAL WONDER WOMAN: THE LOST, UNFINISHED SERIES BIBLE DRAFT, PART ONE

What would the lost, unfinished series bible for a new Wonder Woman show look like? TITLE: IMMORTAL WONDER WOMAN (SERIES BIBLE) [COMPLETE] By Edgar Miraculous Dyer Introduction: This series, using some characters inspired by 'Wonder Woman' comics in 2020-2022 and the award-winning New 52, returns the Immortal Amazon to her original genre roots, as fantasy/paranormal adventurer, ..like TV's Higlander or Lara Croft (Tomb Raider). Think Xena: Warrior Princess and Highlander: The Series had a superhero baby, ..with the friendship between Xena and farmgirl, Gabrielle, at the center of the story - except Gabrielle is fat and black, and there's budding romance, with Col. Steve, ..on the side. Structure and Tone: Episodes will run, as three-act teleplays, introducing an existential threat to the human world ..AND a comedic or dramatic situation, between Diana, Etta and supporting characters (Steve, Mala, Siggy, etc). Most episodes are linear, but, stories can also use POV, mock...

HAPPILY EVER AFTERWORLDS: CONRAD, CLOONAN, MOORE AND THE SECOND GOLDEN AGE OF WONDER WOMAN

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer The first TEN issues of  Michael W. Conrad' s,  Becky Cloonan' s and  Travis Moore' s tour on the  Wonder Woman  comic, called  Wonder Woman: Afterworlds,  is an exceptionally written and illustrated literary work - all the more exceptional, ..being a comic book story. I suppose you could call it, " a good start",  since the creative team just wrapped its opening story arc,  Afterworlds,  and is moving swiftly onto its next one, already much anticipated, by fans. However, I think calling it a good  start  diminishes it, somehow. It is, simply put, one of the most entertaining story cycles, to be featured in the  Wonder Woman  comic, in recent memory. It may be said to herald a second Golden Age, in crafting the sort of wildly imaginative, far-flung, pulpy adventures, we haven't seen, since  Mike Sekowsky' s work on the comic, ..in the Mod Era 1970s. Afterworlds  is plain good reading...
